Parish Finance Committee

ST BRIGID'S PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE

In accordance with and subject to the provisions of Canon Law and Diocesan Regulations the Parish Finance Committee will assist the Parish Priest/Administrator in the administration of the goods of the Parish by advising:-

a) on good practice in regard to the procedures required to ensure that all parish income and expenditure is recorded through the approved Diocesan Accounting system;

b) on the maintenance of appropriate safeguards and controls in regard the handling,recording and lodging of cash;

c) on the presentation of an annual financial statement to the Parish;

d) on the preparation of the annual parish budget and the review of the budget at each meeting in the light of current income and expenditure;

e) on the regular transfer of Parish funds to the Parish Solidarity Account;

f) on the management and repayment arrangements of any debt owed to the Solidarity Fund;

g) on the maintenance and the promotion of the Parish Gift Aid Scheme;

h) on the review of all rents payable to the Parish from lands or property leased to tenants;

i) on policy, targets and strategies in regard to raising funds; (note:the Finance Committee is not a Fundraising Committee.)

j) on the maintenance, repair and upkeep of parish property;

k) generally,on other appropriate matters when so requested by the Parish Priest/Administrator.
